In class, I have been reading a book called Hatchet. The author of this amazing survival book is Gary Paulsen. Gary Paulsen had written a fictional novel. The story is about a 13-year-old boy named Brian Robeson. The 13-year-old was going to see his father, but on the way, he suffered a plane crash while he was driving in the Canadian wilderness. The only tools Brian had was a tattered windbreaker and a hatchet that his mother had given him. I think the author's main message is that anything is possible if you just try harder.
Another message Gary Paulsen may be trying to give us is that; just because you are in a bad situation, a bad attitude will not help. When Brian was in a bad situation, he started to get angry and frustrated at things. With temper coming into Brian he started to get frustrated, but he never gave up. The first night of being in the wilderness Brian was attacked by a dozen mosquitoes, he was frustrated in a bad situation but survived.
I think this book was a very good cliffhanger and a very exciting book to read. One thing that was the most interesting part to make me still read it was when Brian had been hit by a wild moose and the insane tornado. I think that Gary Paulsen is a very good author. This book was one of the most interesting books I have ever read. I have also read other books by Gary Paulsen like Hatchet: Winter and Hatchet: The Truth. I amazingly enjoyed these books of his.
